What up y’all! Another post from Donna, your friendly SEO lady entrepreneur!
Today I wanted to talk about how to go about doing SEO for affiliates.
Gone are the days where you can just throw up a website, fill it up with some crappy content and spam some backlinks to rank in Google. That was so 2000 and late!
Google now requires you to produce quality content and for you to promote that content to other bloggers in your niche.
Thousands of bloggers have successfully implemented white-hat SEO strategies for their affiliate marketing websites.
In this article, i’m going to show you how you can do the same by just following a few simple principles.
If you’re willing to put the hard work in for a few months, you can enjoy some really healthy affiliate commissions from your website rankings and content.
Step 1: Keyword-rich domains
Many people think that using a keyword rich domain name is a spammy tactic but it really doesn’t have to be. You can acquire a short domain name that has your target keyword(s) but just don’t be spammy with it. If your target keyword is long-tail then don’t bother buying that domain name because it will just look spammy. Only certain types of keywords can pull this off without looking dodgy.
If you’re worried that your site will look spammy with your exact-match keyword, create a brandable domain instead.
Step 2: Quality Comes First
It goes without saying that the content on your website is the single most important part of your business. Content comes first and SEO comes second.
If your content sucks, there’s no point promoting that content because it just won’t get any links. Your content should be outstanding. Aim to wow your audience and establish yourself as an authority in your niche by producing content that is head and shoulders better than the competition.
Step 3: Content Schedule
You don’t necessarily have to churn out hundreds of blog posts a week but you should create a schedule for content on your site so your readers can expect new content on a regular basis. You want to aim to at least publish one article a week on your website. Adding more content to your site is a great way to increase long-tail search traffic. The more content you have, the more you will rank for in Google.
Step 4: Stay Away From Link Building Services
There are a lot of services out there that try and reel you in through offering thousands of backlinks to your site at rock-bottom prices. This is almost a sure-fire way to get penalised by Google. These types of link building services are very spammy and the quality of links you get are very low.
Instead, work on building good quality links and stay well away from those dodgy link-buidling services!
Step 5: Promote Your Affiliate Site Like A Brand
If you treat your affiliate site like a brand and establish it this way, you can really achieve some crazy results in the search engines. Find out what your USP is and create a brand able website from that. Some of the most successful affiliate marketing websites have implemented effective brand marketing to boost awareness and drive an insane amount of affiliate sales.
These brands do it so well that most people don’t realise that they’re basically glorified affiliates!
Treat your website like a big brand. Get a proper logo, create social media profiles and provide outstanding content. Your ability to attract powerful backlinks will increase significantly. People don’t like linking to “Affiliate sites” but when they see that you’ve established yourself as a brand, it’s coming from a completely different frame.
